Can you build a SaaS with AI if you don't code?

Yes, for a prototype and for software only you use. A SaaS other people log into, and especially one you charge for, adds work these tools will scaffold and will not own. That is not a reason to avoid them. It is a reason to know which step you are on. Data checked 2026-10-19.

The split

Personal use

You are the user, or you are clicking through a demo. A browser builder is the right shape. Lovable and Bolt are built for a web app you describe. Replit adds a database and hosting in the same IDE. v0 is the interface, and you still decide where data lives.

Someone else has an account

The screens can still start in the browser. The repo should move to an editor before that person depends on it. Cursor is the default in this catalog once the project is a codebase you will keep. The four sections below are the work the move is for.

A page that explains an offer is a website, not a SaaS. Rank that job on its own: a website on a free plan. A native mobile product is a weak fit in this entire set. The mobile page on $20 says so instead of dressing up the closest tool.

What changes when it is multi-user

Auth

A login screen is a prompt away. The part that matters is whether a request without a valid session is rejected, whether a reset goes to the right person, and whether you can revoke a session. The tools can write that code. Read it, or have someone who can read it read it, before other people depend on it.

Multi-tenant data

A personal app has one implicit user. "Add accounts" often means a user id on some rows and a shared pile of data. The break is customer A opening customer B's records. That is a filter on every query, not a sentence in the prompt. You can ignore it while you are the only user. You cannot ignore it when you are not.

Billing

A checkout button is not a subscription. Failed cards, plan changes, and what happens when a payment lapses are state in your database plus the payment provider. Fitbuild does not rank a billing product. A coding tool will scaffold the flow. Do not charge anyone until that path has been read. The fee and tax choice is how to take payments. The checks before the first charge are the security checklist.

Maintainability

The week a second person uses the product, you will change it constantly. In a browser builder, many of those changes spend credits or tokens, and the cost climbs as the project grows. You will feel the token meter once the codebase is large. Move the repo to an editor agent. You will outgrow the credit meter. An editor agent is usually cheaper once the repo is yours. Move before bugfixes are how you spend the meter.

A path that uses this catalog

  1. Step 1

    Prove the offer

If it is only a page, stay on the website rankings. If it is an app, prototype it in Lovable or Bolt. Use Replit when you want the database in the same tab while you learn. Use v0 when the risky part is the interface. Excellent at the interface, and you still have to decide where data and auth live.

  2. Step 2

    Use it yourself

Stay on the free plan until it actually blocks you. The next move is on the limit page, not a bigger stack. A personal tool can live here for a long time.

  3. Step 3

Move the repo before the second user

Export or sync, then continue in Cursor (Plus at $8/mo once the trial is not enough). Copilot Pro at $10/mo if you already live in an IDE. Claude Code starts at Pro, $20/mo, and free Claude does not include it. Codex on Plus at $20/mo if ChatGPT is already the subscription you pay. Kiro starts at Pro, $20/user/mo when you want the spec written down before the diff. Amp starts at Megawatt, $20/mo when the agent should keep working in a cloud machine. Jules steps up with Google AI Pro (Jules in Pro) at $19.99/mo when you would rather assign the task and review the pull request. The graduation guide is the export path.

  4. Step 4

    Then add the four things

Auth, tenant filters, and billing get added in the editor, and you read the diff before you invite anyone or take money. Where the app is served is where to host. Where the accounts live is Supabase vs Firebase. The quiz can still pick the tool once you know your budget and whether you can follow a change.

Questions people actually ask

Can you vibe code a SaaS?

You can vibe-code a personal web app or a prototype of a SaaS in a browser builder. A multi-user product that holds other people's accounts and money is a different job. Auth, tenant isolation, billing, and a repo you can keep changing are the parts a prompt does not finish for you. Build the prototype in Lovable, Bolt, v0, or Replit. Move it to an editor before a second person depends on it or you charge anyone.

Should a SaaS start in Lovable or in Cursor?

Start in Lovable or Bolt.new if you cannot yet follow a diff and you need to see the product. Start in Cursor if the repo already exists or you can read one. The agent works inside a real repo, which is what a SaaS becomes after the first weekend. You will outgrow the credit meter. An editor agent is usually cheaper once the repo is yours.

What is the first paid plan once the prototype needs an editor?

Cursor: Plus at $8/mo. Kiro: Pro at $20/user/mo, with a published monthly credit count. Amp: Megawatt at $20/mo, or Hobby if you bring your own model subscription and machine. Jules: Google AI Pro (Jules in Pro) at $19.99/mo for a higher daily task cap, and the free plan is 15 tasks a day. GitHub Copilot: Pro at $10/mo, a $10 editor plan if you already live in an IDE. Claude Code: Pro at $20/mo, and it is not on the free Claude plan. OpenAI Codex: Plus at $20/mo if you already pay for ChatGPT.
